Blossom and Grow Blog Hop

featuring fabric designs by Maureen Fiorellini (Instagram @maureenmaker)

What does one make when given the opportunity to sew with such sweet inspirational fabrics? Why, of course, our thoughts immediately focused on a beautiful quilt for a little girl. The dainty flowers, rainbows, stripes, butterflies and bunnies just seemed the perfect addition to any girl’s room.

The Blossom & Grow designs by Maureen Fiorellini include a wonderful panel of inspirational messages perfect to be featured as the center of quilt blocks. The pastel colors offer a serene, dainty appearance to one’s project.

The joy of quilting is there are so many designs to choose from! Generally we choose a design then go in search of the perfect fabric for the project, but this time we accepted the challenge … starting with a fat quarter bundle and creating based on the fabric available.

The quilt features 12 panel squares as the block centers surrounded by a simple double border with four-patch corners. We kept the borders small, a mere 1″ finished, creating a frame for each inspirational message.

Tools: Project Wool Pressing Mat & Oliso Full-Size Iron

With the blocks created, we inlcuded a narrow 1″ sashing in blue with yellow cornerstones. What an excellent size quilt for a play mat, toddler bed, or a little lady’s throw quilt!

We can’t wait to get our longarm set-up to complete this adorable Blossom & Grow quilt to gift to a very special friend.
